Come serve with us!

Serving others is one of our church’s core values. In fact we are very intentional about creating opportunities for people to serve throughout the year and on a monthly and weekly basis. As we get ready to start a new season in our church this fall, I wanted to share with you just a few of the opportunities for serving in on an ongoing basis.

Sunday Morning Hospitality
This is a really important area in our church because it’s one of the first impressions people have when checking out our church. There are 3 main ways people serve in this ministry:

  1. Greeters serve on a once a month basis in one of our two worship services. They arrive early and greet people as they come in the lobby and help guests find what they need.
  2. Snack suppliers bring the goodies (homemade or store bought) that fill the snack table. Generally, this is a once per month commitment.
  3. The setup and clean up teams do just that. They set up the snacks and beverages in the lobby between services and then clean up after the second service.

Senior Craft Ministry

Braddock Glen is a low-income assisted living facility funded by Fairfax County. Once a month, on the first Sunday of the month, volunteers from our church interact with the residents there by doing crafts and having conversations with them.

This ministry does not require a fixed commitment and volunteers can serve any month they are available. This is a great ministry for families to serve together. The guests particularly enjoy when children serve with their parents or grandparents.

The Lamb Center
The Lamb Center is a day shelter for homeless people in the Fairfax City area. We serve there once a month on Saturdays by preparing a meal at the church and then serving it at the center.

We currently have 3 teams who rotate serving. We’re always looking to add new teams or folks to our existing teams. This is also a great ministry for parents and children to serve together in.

While these three areas are certainly not the only opportunities to serve they are some really good ones. They also require minimal commitments and so they are a great place to start if you’re looking to serve.

If you’re interested in any of them or in finding out about other ways to serve please reply to this email and I’ll make sure you get connected to the team leaders who can help. You can also use our online form here.

See you Sunday.
