In just four weeks we will be hosting a meal pack with Feed My Starving Children. I’m excited about this new partnership with FMSC; it’s an amazing organization. You can read more about them here on their website.
We’ve participated in meal packs in the past with other area churches, but this is the first time we’ve hosted one ourselves on our campus. It’s a pretty big undertaking but we’ve got some great leaders leading us.
Starting this Sunday our team will be sharing more details about this ministry; in the meantime, here are some things to be thinking about and ways you can be involved.
- The dates are Saturday and Sunday, Feb 9 & 10. We will have multiple shifts both days for packing meals. Also, we will not be having our regular worship services since we’ll be packing the meals in the worship center.
- We will need lots of “behind the scenes” volunteers. This is beyond packing the meals and includes things like hospitality at the meal pack shifts, setup and take down logistics, and prayer. We’ll be rolling out an online sign up for these serving opportunities so look for them soon.
- Inviting others to join us for the packing shifts. This event is bigger than our church, which means we’re inviting the community to help us. Be thinking about the connections, networks and relationships that you have and plan to invite folks and groups to sign up for one of the meal pack shifts.
I hope you will plan to be a part of our Meal Pack; there are opportunities for everyone to serve in multiple ways. It’s also a great opportunity for parents and children to serve together. Here’s a great video produce by FMSC that will give you an idea of what a Meal Pack looks like.
See you Sunday,
