What’s happening now?
Stuffed Animal Drive
Do you have small stuffed animals (beanie baby sized) that have somehow stockpiled in your basement? This is your time! We are looking for donations of small stuffed animals, new or gently used, for our Operations Christmas Boxes. This means that we need more than 2,000! Please drop them off in the donation box in the lobby at church, or email firstname.lastname@example.org to make arrangements to deliver at a different time.
Packing Party October 14th
Please put our Packing Party on your calendar – you won’t want to miss this joyful time of service in which we work together to pack thousands of boxes for boys and girls around the world.
Introduction to Operation Christmas Child: What’s so special about a shoebox?
Since 1993, more than 100 million boys and girls in over 130 countries have experienced God’s love through the power of simple shoebox gifts from Operation Christmas Child (OCC). Fairfax Circle Church has been packing shoeboxes for OCC since 2001.
Their shoebox is the first gift many children have ever received! The treasures and personal letters inside communicate that someone cares for them. It gives them an opportunity to experience the love of God.
Be sure to watch a video to see the impact this simple gift has on children and communities! You will be amazed and inspired.
As shoebox gifts are distributed, local pastors or church leaders present the Gospel in a fun way designed for kids while family and friends listen in. Afterwards, boys and girls are invited to enroll in The Greatest Journey, a 12-lesson discipleship program. They learn from trained local volunteers what it means to faithfully follow Christ and share their faith with others. The graduates also receive a New Testament Bible in their own language.
Address: 3110 Chichester Ln, Fairfax, VA 22031
Red & green shoeboxes
Now that the packing party is over, we encourage everyone to pack shoeboxes at home. Traditional, red and green, “GO” (Gospel Opportunity) boxes are available now in the church lobby. You are also welcome to use any shoebox or similarly sized box that you already have to pack your goodies. See our suggested items list for packing ideas. When you’re done packing, don’t forget to pray for the child who will receive the box you packed. Then, drop it off at our church during National Collection Week, dates TBD.
FCBC Drop-Off Center
During National Collection Week, Fairfax Circle Church serves as a drop-off center for the shoeboxes. That means that people from all around us, including folks from other churches, are invited to drop off their shoeboxes with us so that we can ship them along to the processing center in Baltimore. We are open the entire week and welcome both drop-offs and volunteers. Please click here for specific times and here to sign up to help!
